In the first-ever NFTBLOCKCOUNT contest, I had asked that you submit your own original NFT as a donation. Quite a few artists were interested in the concept itself but didn’t feel warm about the idea that I was plucking their artwork (at their expense) so that I could then turn around and sell it off of their back to make me a profit. I do understand and appreciated those conversations. This WAS a fundraising attempt so that I could keep doing the silly things I enjoy about this space, but those points were heard. While I tried to make the prizes interesting, they were never meant to be the main motivation to participate. I had thought about rolling out the old “buy a ticket, end-of-story” boring raffle routine, but that’s not really the spirit of shill. I do luv some good shillin’s! yum yum
The hope was that leveraging your brand as a ticket, (whatever you were comfortable sending +GAS as an entry fee), would be MORE inviting to artists in the metaverse than a boring crypto donation. Especially if you are set up to appreciate royalties on secondary sales, or have access to the free minting features offered by some platforms. We all thought GAS was high back then too (haha). I get it!
This round, I’m switching it up… a much bigger prize (over $1100 value) & I won’t demand your brain goo as a donation to participate. In fact, I kindly ask that you DO NOT send me your own NFT this time.
